This is definitely something I want to do. I have no system, no pad and no games.
What I'd like to do is just be an entire kit, the system, pad, game and converter so I don't have to buy from all different places and hope they work together.
In your opinion what is the best system to get? ps2 or xbox? I noticed the getupmove website had a bundle but it is out of stock and has been for some time.
Do you know of any places online to get the whole bundle of products I need?
Thanks for your assistance!!

If you're getting a console, you don't need a converter (Unless you're getting an Xbox and a Cobalt Flux).
You can buy pad+game bundles at most any game store (EBgames, Gamestop, etc), and pick up a refurbished console there while you're at it.
There really isn't any worry about things not working well together, unless you're going the stepmania/pc route.

In my opinion, PS2 is better than PC and XBox versions. I'm probably biased though...

I'm a newbie myself but i've played both Max and Ultramix 2. Ultramix 2 has better graphics and is more "shiny" in my roommate's opinion (he liked the way the game looked better than Max). I, however, liked the tracks in Max more than in Ultramix 2. But that's a personal preference. (I have no experience with PC versions or PS1).
Let us know what you've decided to get!

Good luck on an Ebay pad, I wouldn't personally trust buying one there but I hope it works well.

I have pads from Ebay for Xbox that are 2 months old and my roommate bought pads on Ebay for PS2 that are at least a year and a half old. We're still using both successfully . . . mind you they're soft pads so they're prone to screw ups and the occasional phantom step, but they were cheap. I bought the Xbox pads for $12.99 (for both). For someone just starting out, that's not a bad deal, especially if you aren't sure you're going to stick with it.
Now, I am also probing around in the mod threads looking for something that will work for my pads because I know I'm going to stick with this. I'd love a metal pad, but I'm not sure where I'd be able to store it.

You'd have to understand where I live and the somewhat picky nature of my roommates. I love them, but there's a reason me and my b.f. are moving out at the end of the summer. Maybe when we get our own place tho. Anyone know of a place to find a good quality, relatively cheap metal pad?

My experience of metal pads is that there's three kinds:
1. Ridiculously Expensive but very well built (Cobalt flux, Rip a pad off an arcade machine) 2. Expensive and poorly built (The vast majority of metal pads I've seen on Ebay fall here) 3. Homebuilt (which can be as expensive or as well-built as you want to make it).
