Hello my question is basicly this. I'm a owner of all the systems currently out there, and I have a pad that works for my PS,PS2, and Xbox. Now I own some PS versions of DDR and I'm looking in spending my hard earned cash on either a PS2 or Xbox version of DDR, my problem is I don't know which is the better value and which has better songs. I heard UM for the Xbobx didnt' have very good songs.. though reviewers sometimes can be very grossly inacurate. Any input would be great. Right now my favorite mix is 5th I want to find something that's as good as that Thanks Zerphane

I'd recommend the PS2 versions (Either DDRMax or DDRMax2) as I prefer the songs included in those mixes. Ultramix gives you the ability to play online and to download song packs (I believe there are 6 packs out right now, Pyrochaos would know better that I would). Max2 is easier if you're a beginner, and has a few more mainstream songs than Max. But those who play higher difficulty songs tend to prefer MAX. It's all a matter of what you're looking for.

UltraMix was the first DDR game that I bought. After playing StepMania, I realize that Xbox is damn hard. There are only a couple songs that are less than four-footers. Even the light mode is hard.
On the plus side, there are some cool songs that I haven't been able to find for StepMania like "Ready Steady Go" by Paul Oakenfold, "Do That Thang" by Masai and "Castles In The Sky" by Ian Van Dahl. I think those songs are exclusive to UltraMix, so they might be worth it by themselves.
The expensive parts are the console and a good dance pad. The games are the cheap part of the whole thing. I suggest that you buy both games. Just save UltraMix for when you are a total pro.
