Here's my story. Computer programmer for 10 years. I was once over 400lbs. although the worst picture I have is me at around 340lbs. www.prestoncrawford.com/album/images/mebig2.jpgI got into cycling and eating better and before you knew it I was down to 238lbs. www.prestoncrawford.com/album/images/me2.jpgNotice the old clothes on the new me. Anyway, I've put a few pounds back on, due to stress at work, etc. So in addition to trying to keep up with cycling, etc. I recently (like a week ago) bought an XBox, hoping to use it for a little KOTOR and DDR. Here's where my question comes in. I have pretty bad RSI. Bad enough that I can play puzzle and RPG/strategy games on my Gameboy Advance, but basically that's it if I want pain-free typing at my job. So I've largely stuck with that. However, I decided to try playing regular games too. NFL2k5. KOTOR, etc. After just a few days my hands and arms are in pretty bad pain and I fear I may have to give up these games if I want to keep gaming on my Gameboy and computing, pain free. I'm getting close to making this decision, but trying to decide what that means about the fate of the XBox. I think I'm leaning towards keeping it, even if all I use it for is DDR. What do you guys think? Does anyone else here primarily use a system for DDR?

If I didn't have Madden 2005 for the Playstation 2, I would primarily use it for DDR.
It's a good idea to keep the XBox and try and shed off pounds.
Great job on the weight loss, though.
Keep the XBox.

80+% of my time on my PS2 is for DDR. I do occasionally dig up a game and play for a while, but 4 out of 5 hours logged are DDR.

Well, I'm a professional webmaster who just developed the repetative stress deal late last summer.
About 99% of the gaming I do on my PS2 is DDR nowadays. Almost all of the video gaming I do is Pokemon Leaf Green on Gameboy Advance.
One of the things I enjoy about getting to spend time with DDR is that I'm active and doing something without using my hands. That helps make it worthwhile to me.

I appreciate the responses. It's just so foreign to me. I'm fighting myself on this one, because I tend to be a minimalist. In that I basically toss everything extraneous in my life. I don't try to keep things around just because I can. Objects and things in my life have to have a justifiable purpose. Thus, even though I'm pretty well off and have a good career I don't spend money on nice cars or big screen TVs, etc. My wife and I buy what we want. We eat out when we want. We take lots of vacations. But we don't worry so much about accumulating *stuff*. That's why it seems odd to me to own something just for a single purpose like this. But maybe that's okay and I don't need to justify it. Because I do love DDR. And if my hands can't take gaming on the system, then so be it.

I bought my Playstation entirely for DDR - I don't own any other games. I bought EyeToy and tried Play and Groove, but didn't feel like they were worthwhile, so I gave them away. I'm waiting for Yourself Fitness to arrive so that I'll have two games to use it for!
It's still way cheaper than buying a treadmill or similar type of exercise equipment, plus much more motivating.

I mostly use my PS1 for DDR. I have a few other games, but I almost never play them. DDR is the Number 1!

I only use my ps2 for DDR. I quit playing other ps2 games after realizing how much of a waste of money they all were. $50 for a week of entertainment? Heck no.

I'm just not a gamer, so I don't use the Xbox for anything else except DDR. Right now, the Xbox belongs to my roommate, but I'm about to buy one for myself so when I move (ETD end of August) I'll be able to keep playing in our new apartment. Plus my wonderful sig. other loves messing around with electronics, and has plans to "mod the crap" out of the Xbox that I'm about to buy.
I do confess that I love tetris-like games, and do plan to get Ultra Bust-a-Move for Xbox when I do finally get my own. I LOVE BUST A MOVE!!!!!!

I mostly play DDR on my x-box. Occasionally I will play a few of my other games, but DDR is the best one I have.

I can understand that working out with a console takes a lot of time, which you could spend on other games. As a reviewer I have (too) many games to play so I don't use the console only for DDR games. But let's be honost, i'm not the sportiest type and rather choose for paper mario 2 or so instead of DDR

I had a ps2 and other games BEFORE i had ddr, but since a friend showed me DDR and games like that (summer of '04) I've used it mostly for that. Especially since ive been trying to loose weight with it.

I have a PS2, and I hardly ever use it for anything else. The only game I ever really played on my Playstation was Final Fantasy X. But I think it's worth it, just for DDR. Think of how much money you'd be spending at an arcade if you were playing every day!
