Now you won't have to mod your playstation to get the Japanese import DDRs... ps3.ign.com/articles/697/697656p1.htmlWhile it would seem that the core reason is to take away one of the two "legitimate" reasons to modchip your console (The other being backups), I wonder how this is going to play out in terms of bringing more Japanese games to market in the US. Importing just got a lot easier to do, so there's the initial larger market for importers to bring games over. Then there's the secondary wave of English releases for games that wouldn't have otherwise been brought over, but are selling very well via imports. All of these are very good things. I wonder if the region free feature will extend to the backwards compatibility, too?
