It finally arrived in the mail, thank goodness. For as much as I paid for it, it shoulda came in a limousine hand-delivered by beautiful ladies in swimsuits. REGARDLESS! Here are some scores from my early tests of playing with it. I know, I'm not that good, but also keep in mind that I weigh 350 pounds, okay? I'm sorry I don't have any decent pictures of the unit itself, a friend is borrowing my Digital SLR for an art project, so I had to use my palm pilot, which only captures a shiny glowy square when photographing the pad itself. I'll post some very soon, but I have to get back to breaking this sucker in!

And for any of you import users who were worrywarts like me, I just found out that the CF pad works beautifully with my import slimline PS2. I realize there's no reason it shouldn't, but I worried so much about it, because I have a lot more import mixes than American mixes. Have a look-see. It works like a charm on DDR festival, and I'm going to test it on Max2 JP and Extreme JP momentarily. I also butchered Sana Morette Ne Ente.

OMG OMG OMG I am sooo jealous!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'll have the money for mine on Friday, I can't wait! BTW, have you decided to build a wooden base for yours to ensure it doesn't bend or crack? (Argh I'm jealous...!) Here's a quick thread about it in case you haven't heard, I thought this one was nice. There's other pics of CFs modded, with homemade bars too :-o... www.cobaltflux.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5594DID I MENTION THAT I'M JEALOUS??? :-D I've been waiting for the right time for years to get one, the end is in sight!!! (BTW I'm jeal... lol you get the point.. hehehe) Wow I'm scary!

No, I don't plan to build a base, I have hardwood floors. And my setup isn't very cool or nice, because this area is also my impromptu video editing bay, complete with a self-soldered caseless audio dubber! And bits of trash from the packaging. It's kept me so occupied that I haven't cleaned all of it up yet.

I like Afterburners better, they look cooler Afterburners crack if anyone over 150 pounds plays on one. I should know. A lady friend of mine had an afterburner (She loves it, but she weighs about 100 pounds), and my friend (about 175 pounds) stepped on it one day when we all decided to play some DDR. The plastic bowed and creaked heavily, and he stepped right back off, and we all agreed it was best he not play on it. I wasn't even going to get near it. One wrong look from me and those panels would shatter. The CF pad will hold up to 600 pounds, which I sincerely hope will never be necessary. Before I picked what pad to buy, I did my homework, and everyone said the afterburners don't support much weight because of the raised design of the pad, and the fact that they're not using as thick or durable plastic as the CobaltFlux. But yeah, it LOOKS cooler. I'm going to mod my CF with the arcade realism mod and build a bar. For now, it is what it is. If I was a skinny boy, I'd go for the cheaper Afterburner, but I'm not. I have to get the stuff made out of hardcore materials, as I have to do with most things I'm going to stand on, sit in, wear, look at, be near. I have to have heavy duty stuff.

I can't see that happening. www.redoctane.com/redoctanemetalpad.html

nekura ITG Freak Administrator Posted: Thu Feb 02, 2006 7:11 pm Post subject: My Afterburner's dead.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- After keeping my eye on the Afterburner thread on DDR Freak for so long, I can't really say this comes as a surprise to me, but my pad is finally dead -- or rather, flat out unusable.
I've had my pad since they were first made available, and it wasn't until recently that it began showing signs of problems, in the form of arrows not responding even when hit with a lot of force. Some of the buttons still respond fine, but the Down arrow and X buttons no longer activate at all, making it impossible to even so much as navigate in-game menus. It was thought to be a control box issue, but I received my replacement control box today and the issue still stands.
Needless to say, I'm very frustrated that I now own what amounts to a huge paper weight.
To anyone who purchased an Afterburner based on my review, I sincerely apologize if it has since malfunctioned as mine has, and I will be updating my review within the next few days to reflect what has transpired. To those whose pads still work, I wish you the best of luck with yours.

I put a foot on it and pressed down, and it had WAY too much give. My friend Alicia bought one as well, and her boyfriend ended up shattering one of the panels. Fortunately, she has rich parents, and they bought her a CF pad. Imperfectious: All told, mine was about $350 after shipping.

I think my CF pad is sexier ;D
Regardless, I'm considering getting the cheaper afterburner as a second pad so my friends can play when they come over. Taking turns sucks, and I don't own a soft pad, never have.
