PS 2 malfunction??

My DDR games have started to "hang" in my PS2, where the screen is frozen and not responsive to my pad controller. Sometimes if I leave it alone for a few minutes it starts back up, picks up where it left off.

I'm guessing that since it's suddenly happening with all my games that something is wrong with the PS2, but since it's all I use my PS 2 for I have no other experience with the PS2.

What could be wrong? My PS 2 is 2 years old.

it could also be if its a power bar you are using your cord could be loose.also your ps2 could be glitched,it might be the lazer. it could also be the cords in the back are not plugged in fully.it might be the game.fwi:check for any scratches!

Sounds like Disc read errors, a common problem with PS2s. If you're adventurous, you can try and have the laser power adjusted.
