Well, first let me just say that I'm really glad the Canadian educational system is teaching their students to be very autodidactic, instead of just expecting information to be shoveled into their brains. It really gives me hope for the future.
I'm sure someone will correct me on this if I'm wrong, but Beatmania is the original rhythm simulation game that Konami developed years ago (pre-ddr). It consists of 5 (or 7 depending on the version) piano-like keys and a turntable. Much like DDR, you are keeping up with the music via on-screen cues. A good portion of the music in DDR came from Beatmania (20 November, for one). There was a petition campaing to bring Beatmania stateside along with the other Bemani titles that seems to have been successful.

Beatmania is a very fun game. On the mix I usually play on there are some really good songs...Metal Gear Solid for example. Although the way the rectangles (thats the ummm...arrows, if you were playing DDR...) scroll downward. It is sometimes much easier to play than DDR. This is definitely one of my favorite games.
