Does anyone have tips? I am moving to a flat, but jumping ( I have a plastic mat) makes so much noice. Does anyone have tips how to reduce the jumping noice? Cause I don't want to give up on DDR and there is no arcade ddr in the neighbourhood

For me, when I jump around, it's a force of habit for me to land on my tippy toes-lol. That's just me though. Anyone else have suggestions?

When I got my apartment, I purposely aimed for the ground floor even though I didn't want it, just so I could DDR without thundering the folks below me.
Maybe you could start with trying to get to know who lives underneath you, and explain that you like to work out and will probably make stomping noise, but if it gets on their nerves to please let you know. I think some people will be understanding about it, and will either go to you first if it bothers them, or might even just ignore it entirely.

I did the same thing and my neighbors are totally cool with it. My downstairs neighbors play guitar hero and so they're pretty understanding. I do try to limit the time of day that I do ddr though (which is rarely now *sigh*)

I know, how about TURN JUMPS OFF, it can be done in the newer DDR games and in ITG and in Stepmania.

Personally, I'd say that you'll just have to work something quick out with your neighbors if you don't use the jumps off option like Prayer suggested, but I also highly recommend that (especially if you get the OK from the neighbors) that you should learn how to make your jumps as short as possible. This will decrease the sound, improve your stamina, and is a technique like crossovers and triplets that will follow you through the rest of your DDR career.
