So, I'm planning a "Japanese Pop" party and I was hoping for some relatively easy and affordable ideas--
What I have so far: Make your own sushi with relatively simple vegetarian ingredients like cucumber, avocado, spinach, asparagus, kampyo, and then for the meat eaters unagi and tuna, and then maybe some cream cheese too, and then inari wrappers.
Udon noodles
Pocky
Fortune cookies
DDR in one area
Karaoke in another-it's probably going to be kind of strange karaoke cause I don't have a karaoke machine, but my boyfriend says he can rig something up
Anime movies in another (I'm thinking Howl's moving castle, other Miyazki films cause we have them already, but I suppose I could rent something as well, if anyone has any good ideas.)
Of course, I'll be playing some J-Pop music
I'm going to go kind of minimalistic on decorations...but if anyone has any simple ideas, let me know!
Okay, so that's what I have ideas for so far, anyone else have some suggestions?

In my experience...themed parties tripple in fun if you invite people to dress up.

Inviting people to dress up will be fun. Hopefully some people will take me up on it, and it won't just be me looking all cool.

For the sushi, I think it would be a good idea if you have the rice already put onto the seaweed. That can be sticky and messy, and if it's already done for your guests they don't have to worry about getting rice everywhere
