Sup, GetUpMove people! I'm another noob in the community. I discovered this website after looking for ways to lose weight. I started playin DDR about four years ago, but six months after I started my pads broke and I couldn't afford new ones. I was good enough to do most Standard songs and a few Heavy, but I never really considered DDR a viable way to lose weight. Crazy how much you guys have accomplished.
So, about me... hm... I go to Texas Tech University in Lubbock, TX. I'm 20 years old and majoring in English. Though there are actually a lot of good ways to exercise here, most of them are at a crowded on-campus gym. I live off-campus and rely on my roommate to get to classes, so just walking there would take up most of my energy. Furthermore, my neighborhood has a lot of crime, so it's not really safe to exercise alone (I know you girls worry about getting raped and whatnot, but lots of people get mugged around here all the time, male and female alike--something I don't really want to experience >_>). So I began to consider other ways, and during my internet research I found this place.
I have only have one (two?) goals: to look and feel better. I'm tired of feeling ashamed if I have to take off my shirt, and I'm tired of... well, feeling tired if I ever try to walk for longer than 20 minutes. Currently, my plan is simple: eat less (and healthier), lift weights and get some cardiovascular exercise. I've cut high-fat sugary sweets (ice cream, cake, donuts, etc.) and any drink besides water and Powerade out of my diet, and I'm eating smaller portions of semi-healthy food more often (I survive mainly on peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, Frosted Mini Wheats, protein bars and tuna--not a lot of money in a college student's budget for spectacular meals >_>). I've been doing this for about a month, and I do have slightly more energy, but thats it--the fat is still there and I still have virtually no stamina. I feel the cardio is the missing key I've been needing, so I buckled down and bought another DDR pad. Here's hoping I still have some skill and can start on at least Standard.
So hi. I hope to use this community for encouragement, and also to encourage others and offer any advice or knowledge that I can. I guess for now, I only have one question: anyone know any cheap, healthy, long-lasting meals that are relatively easy to make and offer a balanced combination of protein, carbs and fat? >_> I'd like to expand my diet a bit if possible--I'm getting kind of tired of cereal, sandwiches and tuna. XP
