hi, I'm new here but not new to DDR. I was pretty hooked a few years ago but didn't have a PS2 (was borrowing a PS1) and threw out my back the last time I played it. I just bought a PS2 (I'm not a "gamer") and DDR because when I WAS playing it, it was fun and was the only excersize I enjoyed/got. I tried walking for fitness/weight loss, but found that to be boring, and I don't like biking. So, I thought I'd give this another shot. I've recently changed my diet to a purely vegetarian diet, so I'm hoping DDR in combo w/that will help me lose more weight. Looking forward to being "here" and getting hardcore. (*Could not find an intro thread/section so I posted this here.)

Welcome. Good luck on your journey. DDR is a great form of exercise. Make sure you're getting in a good 30 min a day at least 3 days a week. I want to mention up front that becomming vegetarian does NOT guarantee weight loss. I actually GAINED quite a bit of weight when I first became one due to me substituting meats for simple starches. More fruits and veggies are great, but avoid simple starches and cheese...oh lord. Once I went to whole grain and cut the cheese way down in my diet, I was able to loose more efficiently... so just an FYI there.

If you're looking to get back into DDR, there are plenty of people around here who should be able to motivate you. Good luck!

Good luck and we are all here to support you. I am a Vegetarian as well (for the moment, I throw in some fish everyonce in a while and go back and forth with it) xstatic is right I will agree that it is very easy to eat starchy foods a vegetarian. I actualyl lost weight when I made the change but I also wasn't fond of french fries, greasy foods and white breads. Make sure you drink pleanty of water and eat lots of frutis and veggies. There are a lot a great meat substitutes as well and with everything you eat read the back of the package to see what's in it, especially soups that claim to be vegetable, it could have chicken broth or other meat byproducts in it. Also a tip, take the vegetarianism a step at a time, it is hard to go veggie all at once especially if you have been eating meat products all your life. Welcome to the boards and we are here for you.

Hey, thanks everyone! I've been a vegan now for about a month and a half. I read the labels on *everything* and try not to eat starchy processed things. I'm using the workout mode and so far have "jogged" an equivalent of 5 miles. Not bad for only having it for about a week! I'm going to aim for 45 minutes 3 times a week.
