Hey everybody! My name is Caroline and, obviously, I'm new here. I thought I should introduce myself before curiosity about the new mystery poster runs rampant Let's see... I'm 22 years old and I live in beautiful - albeit somewhat cold - Canada. I’m an avid reader, a zealous anime fan and an obsessive videogame freak. I’m currently attending university (major in French, minor in Italian) and, as you’ve probably guessed, I’ve gained the customary freshman 15 (or freshman 25 in my case). I’ve JUST discovered DDR (how embarrassing for a self-proclaimed videogame devotee) and, lo and behold, it’s the best workout I’ve had in years. Needless to say, I’ve become completely and utterly addicted. I’ve played day in and day out for about a week now. I’m already up to heavy mode for most songs (Well, with “Little” on. I just can’t seem to master those darned half-steps! Grrr) Anyways, that’s my story. I'm so happy to have found this forum, you guys seem like such a great crowd! Cheers!

cold? are you joking? how far north are you? I'm in muskoka and we've been in the 20s the last few days.
congrats on finding DDR. I never became a real fan of any video games myself until I was introduced to DDR. I've been playing since December (when I was 7 months pregnant) and still can't get standard.. though standard + with workout steps on are just as easy to do as light.
I'm working on losing the last 18lbs of my baby weight left over from my youngest and I'm getting down to the wire with summer coming on in seemingly full force.
DDR has really helped my endurance and my thighs don't jigle as much as they did even before I had kids which is a great benefit.
which DDR do you play?

Ok... maybe "cold" was an overstatement "cool" would have been a better word. I live in the capital region, about six hours east of Muskoka . We've been having unusually cold weather lately. I bought flowers for my garden and they died because of the cold. We even had a bit of snow earlier this week (extremely weird for May). However, according to the Weather Network, it's supposed to be nice and sunny tomorrow, so here's hoping summer catches up with us. Anyways, enough about the weather. I can't believe you started playing DDR while you were SEVEN months pregnant! I'm impressed. It must have been so hard, how did you manage it? (More importantly, how did you manage to see your feet with a pregnant belly? My cousin couldn't even find her shoes when she was pregnant.. LOL) I'm playing DDR Max2. I know it's one of the older games, but I can't seem to find the latest DDRs in the local stores. Maybe I should order them on Amazon... Which do you recommend?

Max2 is a great game, and was my first game as well. Extreme 2 is the most newbie friendly, as its "dance master" mode starts you on beginner and gradually works its way up to heavy and challenge. Extreme... just kind of annoying due to the lack of dance play options (meaning that you can't turn off the non arrow buttons during a song, meaning that you have to be very careful where you step.) In the Groove is mainly for experts, as it has some REALLY hard stepcharts, and the addition of mines and hands (meaning more than 2 arrows at once making you bend down and press pads with your hands, not like the eyetoy options on Extreme and Extreme2). If you like songs you know, then don't pick this one. There's much less by way of well known lisenced songs here. Max, I can't really say anything for, I've never played it. So in short, the best game for you depends on where you rank yourself. Oh right, and welcome to the forums. Have fun.

I agree that Extreme2 is very beginner friendly that is where I started. The x-box versions I've played are more difficult. I couldn't see my feet which helped me get used to centering myself on the pad. I also played on workout mode so that i didn't have to jump during the songs while I was pregnant.
I ordered Max2 off ebay a couple weeks ago and am hoping that I actually get it soon. I was told by EB games that they didn't carry it in canada anymore ** evil eyes **
