Well, as I can see it you have two options. One, save up more money. Two, get a cheap pad. If you have the option, look on ebay for a cheap deal. Otherwise, you can pick up a $20 Naki flat soft pad. Those are pretty good pads as long as you can withstand the sliding. There's a remedy that works well to halt the sliding. Put duct tape across the corners of the pad. It works well for me. Of course, if you have carpet, duct tape won't work that well. These may be your best options, or they may not be. Get some other opinions before doing something.

i need a new dance pad too. i have the same problem (down arrow stopped working)
i don't have the $ right now, so i'm just doing the workout mode using the other 3 arrows and skipping the regular play modes altogether.
i think i'll have to wait until my birthday in september to get a new one too, because i just spent a lot of money on photography classes and equipment.

Metal pads are the best.. you don't have to worry when you tap dancing all over it..

do u have a metal pad maria?
If u do, i should need some help on picking the right one, they all make it sound so good but i dont really trust their descriptions. what price of a metal pad would give me a pretty decent pad?
and i found this metal pad with a bar at lik-sang for about 119 bucks, is this a good one to get? I know it's third party and all but it looks pretty good.
