I've been running a small site for a couple of weeks now. It's called DDR4Health and is dedicated to DDR and exercise gaming information. It's still pretty puny, but I'm finally starting to pump out some content. I don't mean to draw away from GetUpMove, as the community here is pretty cool, but I have some different info for DDR players that others might find helpful. Anyway, check it out if you get a chance. And I'm always looking for contributions if anyone is interested. www.ddr4health.com

The news articles are nice, but personally I think you're wasting your time with the calorie charts the way you're doing them. Suggestion: Count the number of steps in the song, jumps are a spearate count. Then post the number of calories burnt at different weights for a step and a jump. Then you can build an expected calories burnt calculator for any song.

It's actually not that simple.
I sat down with the workout mode trying to figure out how it calculates calories so I could do just that, but it turns out there are several factors.
A single quarter step might rate as x calories. But two successive eighths might only be 1.3x instead of 2x. Three successive eighths end up being 1.6x. The first step counts as x and the successive steps, until there is a break that counts the step after it as a full step, are only a fraction of x.
The calories are also affected by the placement of steps on the pad. A left step followed by a right step results in a different calculated burn rate than a left step followed by a down step.
The period of time between steps will also have an affect on the calculated rate of burn. And the presence of freeze arrows will also have an impact on the calorie count.
So, since I was unable to derive a unifying theory of DDR step calorie counting, I decided the only way to figure out the number of calories burned per song was to just play through the whole song, get an FC, and record the resulting calorie number.
I spent hours trying to figure out the formula but gave up on it. I might revisit it sometime, but in order to get info posted, I went the FC route.

I think you have an awesome start on your site. And the fact that you sat down to figure out the calorie counts is amazing!
