Ok, I am the greatest procrastinator...so finally here are some questions:
1. Name: (First name is alright) 2. How long have you been playing DDR? 3. What would you say is your reason to play DDR? 4. Have you ever played DDR for losing weight? If yes, how much weight have you lost in a particular time frame? Have you changed your diet to help lose weight? 5. What systems and versions of DDR do you own? 6. What is your at home set-up? 7. Have you ever taken part in a tournament? If yes, describe a little about your experience.
If I think of any more I will post them.
Thank you to everyone in advance! =)

1. Name: Fran 2. How long have you been playing DDR? About 4 months 3. What would you say is your reason to play DDR? To lose weight 4. Have you ever played DDR for losing weight? Yes. If yes, how much weight have you lost in a particular time frame? I haven't lost anything yet because I haven't gotten serious about playing consistently and watching what I eat. Have you changed your diet to help lose weight? When I can get motivated, I try to do low-carb. 5. What systems and versions of DDR do you own? I only own PS1 and I use Konamix. 6. What is your at home set-up? Not sure what this means. I have a wide screen TV I use for DDR. 7. Have you ever taken part in a tournament? No. If yes, describe a little about your experience.
A few more things you may want to ask:
Sex: F Age: 37 How about how often you play, for how long, and what your general level is? Right now I'm only playing a few days a week for about 40 minutes at a time. I play mostly beginner on Konamix, but tried a few at the next level up. When I played max2 I was able to go up to standard and pass some.
What is the topic of your paper? Maybe we can help you think of more questions.

1. Name: Anne 2. How long have you been playing DDR? 1 year exactly 3. What would you say is your reason to play DDR? For fun, competitiveness, and weight loss. 4. Have you ever played DDR for losing weight? yes If yes, how much weight have you lost in a particular time frame? 48 lbs. Have you changed your diet to help lose weight? slightly. Cut out pop, and cut out most fast foods. 5. What systems and versions of DDR do you own? I own a PS2 with DDRmax, and DDRmax2, soon to be geting Extreme in the mail. I also have the xbox with DDRultramix 1 and 2. 6. What is your at home set-up? big screen tv with dual platform soft pads (like ignition pads) side by side... also have surround sound. 7. Have you ever taken part in a tournament? If yes, describe a little about your experience. Yes - about 4-5 months into when I began I did and I took 3rd place in the standard competition. I am also competing in a tourney next week and am very excited about it. I may move up to heavy, however I know my competition and I will get my butt kicked by them up there. Tourneys are fun. They are loud and exciting and you are surrounded by people who have the same passion as you do for the game.
Sex: F Age: 24 How about how often you play, for how long, and what your general level is? I play every day for at least 1 hour and sometimes up to 3 or 4 hours. I generally play 7 - 8 footers, heavies and harder standards.

1. Name: Sarah 2. How long have you been playing DDR? Activley for 3 months. 3. What would you say is your reason to play DDR? Primary reason, entertainment. (close) Secondary reason, weight management. It's a great cardio workout. 4. Have you ever played DDR for losing weight? If yes, how much weight have you lost in a particular time frame? Have you changed your diet to help lose weight? Soon after I got myself Ultramix 2 and a dance pad I realized how great of a workout DDR is. I've lost 15-20 lbs since then (and a dress size ), but I also had to make drastic changes to my diet. Before I would eat 1 meal a day, which would be anything off the Wendy's menu. Now, I don't drink pop, I pretty much only eat fruits and vegetables and swear off anything deep fried. 5. What systems and versions of DDR do you own? Ultramix 2, for XBox. 6. What is your at home set-up? Surround sound, 30 some-odd-inch tv. 7. Have you ever taken part in a tournament? If yes, describe a little about your experience. Nope, sorry Hope that helped out at all!

1. Name: (First name is alright) Kellie
2. How long have you been playing DDR? Since the beginning of January . . . so four months.
3. What would you say is your reason to play DDR? It's both highly entertaining and an excellent cardio activity. If you're somone like me, who loves dance yet wouldn't be caught dead in a bathing suit and wouldn't run to save her own life, DDR is the best possible thing to ever happen to me. Cardio that I enjoy is hard to come by.
4. Have you ever played DDR for losing weight? If yes, how much weight have you lost in a particular time frame? Have you changed your diet to help lose weight? My main reason for starting DDR seriously (for the past four months) was to lose some weight and to tone and strengthen my leg muscles. I would say that I have probably lost about 15 lbs (I'm not certain) but I have definitely managed to tone my lower body drastically in four months. I did change my diet, by reducing the amount of calories I was eating per day, by cutting out fast food and removing non-diet soda from my eating habits.
5. What systems and versions of DDR do you own? I own both Ultramix and Ultramix 2 for the Xbox, I am borrowing an Xbox currently. I also have DDRMax for PS2, but we don't have a PS2 in the house on which to play it.
6. What is your at home set-up? Two cheap soft pads, a 30-inch tv, and a cleared-out space in my living room.
7. Have you ever taken part in a tournament? If yes, describe a little about your experience. No tournament experience.
Sex: F
Age: 24
How about how often you play, for how long, and what your general level is? I play at least 3 times a week for at least a half hour . . . more if I can fit it in. I play mostly on Standard, but will drop down to Light to give myself breaks if needed.

1. Name: Dan
2. How long have you been playing DDR? 2 years
3. What would you say is your reason to play DDR? First it was just for fun, now for fun and weightloss.
4. Have you ever played DDR for losing weight? Yes, this is a large part of why I play now.
If yes, how much weight have you lost in a particular time frame? I lost 30 pounds in about hmmm... 4-5 months, but that was when I played all the time just for fun.
Have you changed your diet to help lose weight? When I first started playing DDR no, now I have changed my diet, no low carb or anything special like that, just limiting my calories to around 1500 per day.
5. What systems and versions of DDR do you own? I only use stepmania.
6. What is your at home set-up? Well, in my dorm I just have my laptop on my desk, and at home I use my desktop. Occasionally if i'm playing with a bunch of people I'll use my s-video cable and hook the laptop up to the TV.
7. Have you ever taken part in a tournament? Yes, at the time I was playing heavy, but I was no where near good enough to compete with those who could AA max unlimited, so I played standard. I won a few rounds, but didnt get too far. It was a fun time though, seeing all the many DDR players from my area.

Yes If yes, how much weight have you lost in a particular time frame? 40lbs over 18 months Have you changed your diet to help lose weight? Yes, after I had lost about half the weight, I began the South Beach diet on my doctor's advice. 5. What systems and versions of DDR do you own? PS2 (MAX, MAX2, Extreme, Japanese Max, Japanese Max2, Japanese Extreme, Party collection, DDR festival) PC: Stepmania/DWI, Pump it up

8. About how often do you play, for how long, and what your general level is? - For weight loss, minimum of 25 songs per session, 4 days a week. For maintenance, 1 session every two weeks or so. I currently play in the 7-9 foot range, regardless of level. Play time increases around new game releases, both before and after release for preparation and song unlocking.
9. Do you supplement your DDR workouts with additional exercise? Yes, mostly bodyweight calisthenics (Squats, pushups) and some dumbbell work (15-25 lb dumbbells)
10. Do you play any other video games for exercise? Yes, Eyetoy:Play and Eyetoy:Groove for an upper body-centric cardio workout.

ok you need to be really upsest with ddr to do something like this report and second for everyone who hates me dont hate me because im smart !!! Ok I have been more than patient with you....WHAT THE F*#$ ARE YOU ON? cmon seriously, I am doing the report not only because I enjoy DDR, but most people at my school have no friggin clue what DDR is. So before you just post random sh*t please think first. Just because you say you are like the only one who isnt obsessed with DDR, that doesn't give you the right to say moronic things like this. I tried to be patient with you, but now I dont think I can stand back and watch you belittle peoples comments just because you have a superiority issue. /rant off Seriously, either grow up, or thats the first of many comments directed towards you. I hate to be the mean guy, but there are only a few people on this site that will come forward about this. I am usually not one to hold in feelings or thoughts, so do not think its just because of you. And I am sorry to any others who get offended by this.

I'm basking in the gloriousness of this post.
However, from reading many posts and these two individuals' actions, they're basically just doing this to get a rise out of us.
I suggest just ignoring them. Even though they'll read this and know we're ignoring them, they'll probably find some other site to rape next.

ok you need to be really upsest with ddr to do something like this report and second for everyone who hates me dont hate me because im smart !!! First of all, "upsest" is not a word. I think you're looking for the word "obsessed." Shakespeare had a right to be making up words, but unless you've changed literature in as a profound way as the Bard did, I suggest you steer clear of making up your own words and spellings. Second, how are we supposed to know if you are smart if all you do is post meaningless comments to threads that have been dead for months? And as far as we know, you can't spell? For all I know, you could be a Mensa cadidate, but I don't see any evidence of it on this forum. Finally, I think it's great that havix is doing his paper on this topic . . . it helps to write about something that you are passionate about. There have been several important psychological studies done on the benefits of using a video game as a source for weight loss, so why should his paper be any different? I'm not normally one to call people out, but between you and your best friend legend, you have worn my patience thin. UJKitten

I'm just going to agree with havix, ujk and claudio, they already said anything I would. ryanddrfreak, it's sad you have nothing better to do with your time than to post random crap on a message board with people who are actually trying to accomplish something. If you have something constructive to say then say it, otherwise piss off and leave this board to the 'grown-ups', you childish twit. You could not have been more rude than by the way you attacked havix's report and should probably apoligize and maybe even offer your support for it. Oh, and we don't hate you because you're smart, we (I) dislike you because you're annoying and immature. ------------------ Good luck with your report havix, let us know how it turns out

Okay, I was going to try and let this little drama play itself out without intervening, but right now I'm about "this" close to locking all of these threads and banning *everyone* involved for a week.
I'm giving everyone a piece of advice.
Let. It. Go. NOW.
We've all seen how this plays out. Ryanddrfreak (and occasionally Legend) post for a few days until someone tell him (or them) off. Then he leaves for a few weeks. Lather, rinse, and repeat. But do we really need to have every thread they've posted in clogged up with this sort of complaining?
Ryanddrfreak, your comments in this thread were uncalled for, inappropriate, and rude. You owe Havix an apology, though I'm not going to require you to post it publicly.
Everyone reading this has the unfortunate experience of catching me on a bad day. I really recommend that you all learn how to get along with each other right now.

Ok well, let me say this. Usually the "little" things do not bother me. But after a time, those repeated "little" things accumulate and I tend to release my thoughts rather than keeping them built up inside waiting to explode on some innocent person that is not involved. I hate the thought of drowning in negativity and try to keep it out of my system as best I can. I have no problem getting along with people, but if I have to sacrifice my values and beliefs just to "let it slide," then I am no better than the person who has said the hurtful remark. Although I have been taught to ignore these remarks, I have learned throughout my relatively short lifespan that this is not the solution to the problem.
abrannan, I shouldn't have said the things I said. But looking back, I do not feel I was wrong in posting my thoughts, but maybe wrong in some of the things I chose to say. I mean, I could go complain to my friends, or other people in my life, but they wouldn't have a clue what I was talking about, because they are not here. I know I do not want to be banned, but if I have to hold my tongue and crawl into a corner after every time something like this is said towards me, then please ban me. It is not in my nature to bow down to someone who repeatedly does these things, even if people "let it slide."
But at the same time, I do agree that we shouldn't clog the threads. It is bad for prospective members/friends to see these "debates."
ryan, I hope maybe, possibly in the future we can become friends, and hopefully this is just a misunderstanding between us. I am usually not a person to hold a grudge, and always try to look for the best in a person.
*note* I really didn't want to post this, but I feel in order to express my feelings in a way that people can understand the reason behind my actions, this needed to be said.
