I wasn't planning on ordering it, our one new puppy is enough hassle as it is.

Translation: It's Tamagotchi all over again. I actually saw this chick playing Tamagotchi the other day and she had 3 more of them hanging off her belt. And I was like "What the hell are you doing?? What's with all the NEOPETS?" And she got really offended and pissed off and was like "They're NOT NEOPETS!! they're TAMAGOTCHI!" So I say, "It's the same d@mn thing" and she says"NO IT'S NOT. IT'S TOTALLY DIFFERENT" ((Obviously she's very attached to het pets)) So I ask, "Okay - what are they exactly? Little blob monsters that smile, cry, eat, and poop." She's like, "They're not BLOBS!! This one is an apple and it will turn into something else when it get's more mature! And This one here is a plant thing. It used to be a cute little animal thing. And they all play together and interact and stuff!" "OH!" says I, "a plant! and an apple! My what exciting pets!" To which she stormed away in disaproval.

(it's far from tamagotchi) It's only as far from Tamagotchi as Halo is from Doom. Basic concept is the same, but the implementation is different (And almost irrefutably better).

Are we talking Doom, or Doom 3 here? j/k As far as I'm concerned, it's just another little fad/craze that'll be gone in about a year from now. If there's any Japanese craze that should get more attention, it should be Katamari Damacy.

That was mean of you xstatic. And whereas tamagochis are all digital and stuff, these puppies are like... real. You have to play it to believe it. And this is NOT tamagotchi DS, Bandai is releasing that. Seriously. I think I want a tamagotchi now, thanks a lot :-P

Thanks Agent for telling us, I will order this for my 5 yr old son who is very allergic to pets. It will be the closest thing he can have to a real pet. M

I mean - the game itself actually looks really cool. And IS really great for people who are - a. allergic to dogs b. live in an apartment where you can't have dogs c. can't afford a real dog
A lot of people in Japan don't have dogs, that's why it is such a huge success over there.
Quite frankly... I wish I had one of these instead of my dogs. They are soooo naughty. grr.
