I haven't lost a whole lot of weight since I started on my being healthy/exercising quest. Maybe 5-8 pounds or something at most, and I've been trying to lose weight since february probably. It's hard to tell seeing as the scale is on crack. I keep getting off track, eating things like soft tacos at tacobell and the occassional slice of pizza. I know that probably isn't horrible, but it still makes me feel bad, I want to be able to switch over to all healthy things completely. Plus Lean Cuisine Pizzas are the best and better than delivery. Yet I still eat delivery pizza. I have been having a lack of veggies lately too. And motivation for DDR? Gone. Pretty much, at least. I tell myself" I am going to play DDR sometime today, have to." and then somehow I end up not playing. I am trying, yet again, to get back on track. I went to gameworks last night and DDRed for a few songs, so I felt a little motivated. And I ate a ceasar salad for dinner, no cheese and i dipped my fork in the dressing instead of pouring it all over the salad, which I normally do. I feel proud for at least being able to do that. When I got home I tried to DDR too but I was getting super tired really easy and it was getting harder for me to breathe. So today, I made the mistake of forgetting to eat breakfast and my mom and I went out to some stores and stuff, then at around one we realized we hadn't eaten anything all day, and so unfortunately we drove into taco bell. After not eating for so long, I got two soft spicey chicken tacos and one regular beef taco. And ate all three consecutively. Sad isn't it? I feel bad, but we went grocery shopping and got some healthy good food and hopefully it will help. I would really appreciate it if people could try to give me more and more advice on how to stay motivated and things to keep thinking about to keep me on track. Willpower is hard to have sometimes. Thanks everyone.

Baby steps, use the mirror to gauge progress and not the scale. It can be frustrating to look on the scale and see that you either gained a little or lost none at all. Check scale every couple of weeks, Taco Bell is the devil.

It is very satanic. I'm trying to use the mirror, but also how my clothes fit. It helps a little. Hopefully I can stay fully motivated this time.

I would use the mirror more, but I find myself to be enchanted by my good looks.

I would use the mirror more, but I find myself to be enchanted by my good looks. umm... I hope that was sarcasm, because if not, it was very arrogent. Ravevampyre...I know it's hard, but CUT OUT THE FAST FOOD! If you DO feel compelled to order pizza, get thin crust only, heavy sauce, and light cheese. And stay away from meats because pepperoni and sausage can be the devil @ a pizza joint. *used to work for pizza hut & domino's* Stay away from taco bell. Stay away from ceasar dressing! And if you don't feel motivated by DDR then maybe it's not for you. It works for me because I'm a gamer and I enjoy it. But I realise it's not for everyone. I'm not trying to be an ass. I tried a hundred things before I found DDR. I'm just saying... At ANY rate. GOOD LUCK. BE STRONG. YOU CAN DO IT.

Well, I've loved DDR is the thing. I've been playing it for a long time. I'm not sure, but I think it could have to do with my frustration with not being able to make the jump to Heavy mode and I've had DDR since, hmm, probably last september or november. Random months that arent together, I know. And I have a room that was built onto the house, so its a lot hotter in there right now, and, seeing as I live in Arizona and it's usually 107, it doesn't motivate me. I think I might also need more room, and maybe a better mat. Unfortunately we have like, zero money to spend on stuff like that. The mat moves around so damn much. I wish I could have a DDR partner, but I can't hook up my Xbox live until we get a different internet connection, seeing as Dial-up SUCKS. Well, I think DDR is for me. I enjoy it, I think I am just unmotivated to exercise. Especially with the heat. =( Thanks though, I am trying to get back on track for real. Last night for dinner I had a large bolw of romaine lettuce with light balsamic vinaigrette dressing and a bowl of beef broth with spices and chopped carrots and celery. I think I did pretty good there. And I've been drinking nothing but water and milk. Just now, I had a bowl of Oatmeal crisp rasin stuff, whole grain and everything, really good. I DDRed for about an hour and a half last night, so I'm feeling a little better about the situation. =)

You're doing fine . . . especially if you continue to make meals like the one you described in the previous post. Make sure you're getting enough protein and carbs, tho. Don't forget! A couple questions: Since you live in Arizona, where it is incredibly hot during the day, wouldn't it be wiser to DDR at night until it cools down? Here in MD the humidity keeps the air temperature hot hot hot after dark, but you're in the desert, so it should cool down after dark . . . right? Who's to say you have to be on Heavy? I haven't made the jump yet either, and we've been doing this for about the same amount of time. Make it about being healthy instead of achieving a certain level of play, and I think we'll both be happier. (I'm trying to do the same!) You can tape your mat to a piece of plywood, I hear that cuts down on the pad moving around. Or, as abrannan suggested to me, go to the local home improvement store and look for kiddie puzzle mat . . . a play mat for kids that comes in the shape of big puzzle pieces. It cuts down on sliding as well. *cheers for ravevampyre* I know we can both do this! UJKitten

yay! i really should do the plywood thing. and I think i will. I've been trying to eat healthier now, its just difficult sometimes. I DDRed today but I tried Heavy Mode on B4U on training mode and I did it six times and almost passed out, then made the mistake of chugging a bottle of water which made my tummy feel funny. Well, then I decided I needed a break from the DDR so I went on a bikeride because its particularly windy which makes it feel cooler. I will probably DDR for another twenty minutes or so later. I start school in about ten days and I want to really start gettin on track, you know? I think I will DDR and night instead of daytime because life in the desert is difficult. I went swimming last night too and was very active so I felt happy about that. That was really really random. If people could keep maybe trying to check up on me often or something, that would be helpful, sometimes I need people to help keep me on track. Any other things anyone can think of to help me avoid making bad food choices, to remind myself to DDR/exercise, things like that, please do post! thankies.

Hey, I gained 5 pounds over a vacation week. But don't worry, you'll get to where you wanna be still I was burned on DDR, but after a weeklong break I NEED it or I die. Sometimes taking a break is a good thing. Try jogging nonstop 10 minutes or so, that can improve stamina, which could help you step into heavy and respark DDR again. Ok I gotta play my first game of ITG in a week, so bye! Good luck

you sound so much like me that it's scary. I do that, and feel like I'm cheating, and then feel bad. I've decided that if I'm going to do that, I'm going to have to keep up with my calories and then burn the extras off. I have a stair stepper thing, and so now I'm using it to improve my leg muscles. I just recently made the jump to standard, and I've had my DDR for a few months. I don't think I'll ever jump to Heavy, but that doesnt' bother me much. I use DDR for fun and for exercise, but if it's not fun then it's all work. A break can be good if you're not having any fun.
How are you doing on it so far? It's been three days since your last post on it; are things going well?
