Of course you're not getting tired from it, it's only 10 songs. That's only (if there are no breaks at all between songs) 15 minutes of workout. You want at least 2x-3x that amount. Remember, the key is to get your heart rate up to 70% of max (For those under 30, that's 23 beats in a 10 second count) and keep it there for as long as you can. You don't have to do heavy mode all the time if you can keep this heart rate up. DDR is not weightlifting, more difficult is not necessarily better for you.
Speaking of weightlifting, that would be a good secondary exercise option for you. Every pound of muscle you gain burns an additional 50 calories per day. Also, even if you don't lose any fat, every pound of muscle you gain reduces your body fat %.

You might also just try nonstop mode on Heavy. Allow yourself a break every 5 songs, but that many heavy songs coming at you rapid-fire should get your blood pumping.

...cant seem to get my legs moving fast enough for heavy mode... Neither can I, but it doesn't matter so much for weight loss. I can get my heart rate up without it.

The way I started playing on heavy was to force my self to play on it, even if I failed the songs. There's always your easy heavy songs. For example, dream a dream on max 2 is a great song to start playing on heavy, for max 1, cutie chaser, or even I like to move it is pretty good. Honostly though, I think the only way to be able to play on heavy, is to stop playing on standard and just fail the heavy songs until you get it. Thats how I started, thats how I helped my friend get into heavy :-p Try it. Your feet'll end up getting faster. When the rythms get faster, you tend to not lift your feet up as high, and you become familiar with many of the rythms so it's a lot easier to know where you're feet are going Good luck.

Good advice, Phobos. What we are doing is training our bodies. You can't train your body to do something if you don't try. The advice also is true for moving from Light to Standard. You just have to try some of the Standard songs over and over until you can do them.
Find a song that you like (whether it's hard or not) and keep trying it over and over. If you like the song, you'll be more willing to keep playing it until you get it.
