Tape your arches. Get some wide athletic tape and wrap it around the middle of your foot 2 or 3 times (not too tight). This will help give you support in your arches since you aren't wearing shoes. An x-ray should reveal if you have a stress fracture or not. Now the question I am about to ask is actually serious, I am not trying to start an argument... But is this wise advice? Would creating a support like that not diminish your bodies ability to strengthen those muscles and create the support naturally? I am just going by memory of "why high topped shoes are bad" articles from years ago.

I am just going by memory of "why high topped shoes are bad" articles from years ago. IANAMD, but I don't believe that the arches are controlled by a muscle that can be strengthened. I think they're controlled by a tendon that can get overstretched. The pain described at the beginning of the thread might be due to that tendon overstretching of fatiguing. Taping the arch only elnds some pressure and support to the tendon, preventing an injury.
