Hi everyone,
I lost about 10 pounds playing ddr for about 2 months. That was 1 year ago, and I haven't been playing really since but this website has inspired me to get back into it!
How much weight have you guys lost playing DDR?

I started the a low carbs diet, I am diabetic and I have noticed a big difference in the reduction in my insulin intake as well as a leveling off of my blood suger levels.
I just got a connector for my ignition pad so I can use it on my xbox, I need to drop another 35 pounds to each my goal

Hi people! I finally got myself a DDR game and I'm detemined to lose these unwanted pounds. I weigh 130 pounds now (my all time high!!) and I am trying to get back to 110. Tanya's and others' stories are very motivating, and I hope I can reach my goal!

Hello my loves,
I lost 12 pounds in 2 1/2 weeks... I eat veggies and fruits and eat meat every other day or so ( for protein).. Veggies and Fruits along with water are Zero Calorie foods.. So pair that up with burning 2,000 calories a day on just DDR, ( not to mention the extra calories you burn through out the day anyway) and you can see how the pounds just falls off. It's awesome seeing results.. I stopped eating fast food and carbs a while back, But sometimes bread is my weakness and I am still seeing results in such a short time. Forget the corner gym or Bally's total fitness.. You can just see your money go down the drain with those.. Get your butt to the store and purchase the game with the dance pad for $60 bucks and you'll see more results in 1 week on this, than you would see in a month going to a gym.
Huggz to all.. and Faerielink3, I love your journal jessica.
Peaches, Maria P.S. I am currently between standard and heavy in workout mode. Usually do it for 2 hours or until I burn off 2,000 calories..

Hello everyone
I have been asked by one of your lovely moderators to say a few things about health and fitness.
Firstly DDR and other Bemani like it can be classed as a "work out"
If you play DDR often for long periods of time you will get fitter. A sign of that can be that, your stamina has improved. A good sign of this is sweating and tiredness. If you start sweating, that means your body is trying to get rid of excess heat that you have generated through excersize.
Like all forms of excersize you need to do it sensibly and in moderation. Take care of yourself by:
Making sure you wearing correct footwear, Also taking breaks and don't play for a long time without a 10-15 minute break. If you have shortness of breath or chest pains STOP playing and see a doctor.
Also drink a lot of fluid to replace what you lost.
Kinda brief, but if anyone has any questions then they can PM me or asked Faerielink to PM me.

Heh, yeah DDR can definately be considered a workout. When played enough the right way it can be considered a marathon . I don't think I lost weight over the course of the last year I've been playing... more it is weight I have NOT gained which I would have had I not been playing DDR, that could total up to a good 10 or 15 pounds.

I have recently been playing standard and some heavy as opposed to light. I have not lost weight that I can see but I can tell I have gained muscle, which I know weighs more than fat. My calves are like rocks now hehe.
I am doing my best to cut out some of the crap I eat so I can lose some weight and I have been playing in the AM as my workout and again at night for an hour or so with my kid or friends who stop by and want to play.
I used to run and had to stop b/c I became chronically dizzy with an inner ear disorder so dizzy 24/7. I bought DDR for home b/c then I don't have to worry about getting dizzy while I am away from home. I absolutely love it! I don't feel like I am exercising at all really...at least I do but I don't wanna stop ;D
I really think it's cool too that my kid uses it as our after dinner "bonding time". He's 6 and I think it's good he's getting exercise playing a game instead of just sitting there playing one. My husband plays too and most of our friends...it's really caught on!

I started playing late in the summer of 2002. In 2 months I lost 30lbs. I did not conscientiously go on a diet with regard to food but the hard exercise you get during DDR actually decreases your appetite for fattening foods. I usually found cravings for Total cereal which was probably a main factor in my weight loss. I also ate plenty of protein with regular turkey and tuna sandwiches on wheat bread. But I did still eat other junk foods, sometimes even often. I did not care about what I ate really, I just wanted to get some stamina and to be more in shape. Despite the somewhat poor eating habbits I still lost those 30lbs in 2 months. And I kept losing weight after that, down from 245 to 205lbs in the course of 3-4 months. I pretty much stopped playing at that point because of my workload from my dual major at Northeastern (Electrical and Computer Engineering) and I have gone back up to around 230. I just bought a metal Redoctane pad so I am exercising again. Within days I can already feel the burn I felt a year ago. But what I found was important, at least to me, was to also have a weight lifting program on top of the cardio. After I started to lose weight fast, I started lifting in the gym with a bunch of my friends. This seemed to double the speed at which I lost weight and made me feel much more energized. The hardest thing I am finding right now is the disappointment of not being able to AA any 10-footers anymore . This is just because my loss of stamina. But weight loss is Definitely easy to achieve by playing DDR even if you only played for a few hours like 3 times a week. The reason DDR worked for me, and why it will work for anyone that is not currently exercising, is because you start out playing at a beginner level. The exercise load is not nearly as intense when you start out because you can only pass light songs. You work your way up to passing harder and harder songs, and as you do so your body tries to keep up with your increasing game skills ;D I played for about a year and I never ran out of challenges, there are plenty of songs I have not AA'd on heavy yet and that's my next level to aim for. Once you get in shape don't stop exercising. I made that mistake and it feels horrible. Whether or not you are playing DDR once you get in shape, do Something. Anything. But stay active. Here is a picture 1 month before I started playing DDR (embarrassing but it supports my speech): www.coe.neu.edu/~jwald/ddr/before.jpgAnd this is about 4 months after I stopped playing DDR on a regular basis, I had already gained back 15lbs from my peak fitness level but still you can easily see the change: www.coe.neu.edu/~jwald/ddr/after.jpgI am currently doing a "photo-a-week" portrait so you guys can see how fast you really do lose weight playing DDR. I'm hoping to make it morph each successive picture so you can see me shrink, haha.

Um.... Ok lol. Well I wasn't that good at DDR at first and I wasn't really watching what I eat so... about 2 1/2 years ago when I started nothing really changed... In fact I kinda gained some weight because I didn't care about what I was eating... I also wasn't that good at DDR for the first 2 months of the game so it didn't really help with weight loss. Then... I asked a girl out... yeah... she said no and well... her reason why really hurt me... I was really depressed and had to see a Phycyotrist for a year. Well right after that I thought I should start to change things. So I started to go on a diet. I just at a little less and stayed away from junk food (it's not so bad... once in awhile lol) Ok so now I started to play DDR more and magiacly it's like I hit a new level. It was like... 2 days ago I couldn't do 5's and now I'm doing 8's?! Well any way I wouldn't stop playing. I lost about well... an amazing 10 lbs. Yeah didn't seem like a lot to me either. No one really noticed. Then the summer of this year hit, and I don't know what happened or what I did but... Over the summer I lost 40 lbs. When I came back from school for the new year I thought I should have a little bit of comedy involved. I was wearing the same clothes I was wearing last year in the beginning of the year. Yeah... I lost a lot of weight and people were noticeing and I got really imbrassed but it was a good thing. I still don't have a girl friend yet... but I kinda got my eye on this one girl lol. Hopefully when I ask her it wont turn out the same way. Well I think I rambled on enough...
I bid you Adeu

Ah, I remember it like it was yesterday. The day I first tried DDR. August 27, 2003. I weighed 230lb. Today, March 11, 2004. I now weigh 187lb. I've lost 43lb and more to come. I've had to add another notch in my belt and am getting closer to adding yet ANOTHER notch. I'm going to keep it up until I'm thin. I know I can do it. DDR has made it possible. (Figures, nothing works for me. Turn it into a video game, all of the sudden I'm losing weight. ) Strange thing though. I haven't changed as a person, and yet I'm being noticed more by some women I know.......... ::)strange indeed. *shrugs* Doesn't matter to me. I'm losing my weight for myself and myself only.

I am new... only been playing for 2 months. Desk job last 10 years has made me incredibly lazy until 2 months ago.
I was 300 pounds, in 2 months I am now 193lbs now and my stamina is doubled.
As to food... I also had joined weight watchers online and found that I was also eating too blasted much (In my mind I did not).
So I am learning and now losing.
Yesterday when I went out to do some shopping, I had to physically hold my pants up.... my belt is on the last notch AND does not even hold up... its leaning over...lol
So say my self esteem is up is an understatement.

Well.... I started watching what I ate first, then my kids bugged me to try DDR (they have been doing it for a year), so I tried it and became addicted. My knee has been bothering me off and on for a year, so I figured if DDR could help me strengthen my legs maybe it would help my knee too. It's been 6 weeks and my legs are much stronger, the knee still twinges occasionally, but I lost 15lbs.! I am 3 lbs. away from my wedding weight, back in 1976. (yep, I'm old!)(g) I 'work out' at a jogging pace on my daughter's metal pad for about 2 hours every morning. It's fun. Cindy

I have an update to my weight loss. Since my last post on it in February, I have cut out soda/juices and stopped snacking late at night (my bad habit) and I have lost 17 lbs!
I had to buy new capris this year cos my old ones were too big! I love that. ;D
It takes a long time for me to lose even a couple lbs but it makes me very happy when I do. I am still trying to lose another 15 or so lbs...167 down to around 135 hopefully. I am at 150 now.
Thank you DDR!
