Hey guys. I am curious about something. Is there a weight limit for the Redoctane DDR pads? I'm talking about the soft Ignition 2.0 pad they have and also the metal pad. If someone too heavy steps on one of these can it easily get broken? Me and some of my family would like to lose weight with DDR, but I wanted to make sure what the maximum weight limit for the pads was. I appreciate any help you guys can give me on this matter.

Not to my knowledge. I've had a RedOctane pad, a RO Ignition Pad, and now a RO Metal Pad, and have never seen a weight limit. I will say the RO pad wore out faster than the Ignition Pad, and I don't know if the Ignition Pad's problems were related to my (originally) 230 lb frame (now 199lbs ) stomping on it. The thin foam inside the sensors (not the "core foam) tore through on UP, making it stick on. I will say if you have the funds, I completely and wholeheartedly recommend the RO metal pad. I've been pounding on it for several months now daily, and it hasn't missed a step yet. <knock on wood> I noticed a screw was loose the other day, but that's it. I attempted to repair my Ignition pad with slightly modified versions of the instructions on DDRFreak.com, but had no way to sew the pad back together! My sewing machine just kept getting mangled. At least should the metal pad ever fail I can use the same method, which should work really well, and screw the thing back together. Hikaru

I have to agree, a metal pad is much much better, it's on my wishlist. As a starter I think the plastic version is better to see if you'll like to lose weight with DDR, it's cheap and you can fold it up and put it away. On the otherside if you see the pad everyday, you automatically jumps on it and dance dance dance

Supposedly the "best" metal pads are Cobalt Flux pads. But they retail in the $300 range, so they're out of the question for most people i would guess.
RO's metal pads have had a few reported problems, and they are fully discussed on the console forums of DDRFreak.com, but i'm sure they're ok and def cheaper than $300.
Hope this helps people.

In all honesty I find the best durable pad to be the official Konami ones, I have two of them for the PS2 and they work great! I enjoy them, never misses a beat and takes a beating but keeps on ticking. They are definitely a great investment for someone who is DDR'ing. You can get them at redoctane.com Best of all the HARDLY slip. I've had very minimal slippage.

There is no weight limit.. But like anything else.. It does wearout after time.. Try a metal pad.. It's durable..

I have igintion pads and they are working fine.. But I agree with the others if you are going to be using this extensively, i would try and save to invest in the metal pads.

i always did consider buying the metal pad but when i was about to, everytime, i would think that sometimes later I would regret it because with that much money, I could buy a whole bunch of games and a new game console altogether. so my solution is just get the RO ignition pad and see how it last. I hope it'll last long because i spend like a 100 bucks on it.

wHOA!! For a hundred bucks it better last more than a year or 2.. As for the rip pad- man that sucs.. Did you get it from an ebay store? If so, you may be able to get a rebate form the dealer.
My IO pads are working great, though I think they are starting to slide abit.

Anyway, trying to convince a local gym to provide DDR has a cardio conditioning routine in one of their location. Wil let you know the updates.
