Admittedly, I haven't been on this place in several years, which is why I had to just make a new account. What happened here? It's the equivalent of returning to a city only to find it in ruins.
These boards used to be full of hope. Nerdy, sweaty hope. Now I'm hard-pressed to find anyone who posts regularly really.

What happened? In a word, Facebook. Well, it was dying before that, but Facebook put the final nail in the coffin. Sit back and I'll tell you a story...
It all started with Guitar Hero. RedOctane (who was the company behind Getupmove.com), decided to branch out in the music game genre and make a guitar based game. IT was a huge success. So much so, that RedOctance was bought by Activision. Now, Activision only wanted the Guitar Hero property, and didn't give a rat's ass about the dance game side of the house that RedOctance was built upon. They took down the front page of Getupmove.com, but maintained a link to the forums. Eventually, the domain registration for Getupmove.com expired and was bought by some ad-spammy blogger.
In short, we had no advertising, and no link to the outside world. The only to find us was through a random Google search that might turn up one of our pages.
We had a "core" group of folks here, but that can only last so long, and once just about everybody got Facebook, it replaced these forums as a social hub for those folks.

Pretty much what Andrew said. Putting it bluntly, this is honestly the first time I've ever checked back here in probably 2 years.
Also, GT is Spooty Biscuit, but I honestly don't really play stuff on Live often at all.
