Extreme 2 all the way. Extreme with its stupid lack of dance play options...
And can Extreme make the claim of having the HARDEST DDR SONG IN THE SERIES!?!? I think not... (Paranoia Survivor MAX on Challenge/Oni, in case you're wondering.)

I prefer Extreme 2, but the unlock situation is annoying if you're not a superstud player (and I'm not). Give me ITG or the Japanese Extreme over either US Extreme anyday.

I liked Extreme a lot. But I would choose EX2 just because it has a couple of songs I love (Injection of Love and Afronova Primeval)

I have Extreme and I am already bored with the thing. I think I would chose X2...perhaps I should play it first...............

I would choose Extreme2, it has more songs that I like on it, like Cartoon Hero's and Butterfly. Extreme has maybe two songs I really like whereas Extreme2 has way more songs on it that I like and a great mix of songs, the majority of the songs are different instead of all the same like Ultramix2 which has a lot of industrial/technoish songs on it, or so it seems.

My ranking for the games are...
1. ITG, for being the most challenging (what I need most) 2. Extreme2, has most of my favorite songs and stepcharts (Colors, Twinbee, Sakura, PSMO for the challenge). Annoyingly easy unlock system at first, but it gets more fun near the end. 3. Max2, has quite a few good songs like Tsugaru, Burning Heat, Xenon, plus MaxX Unlimited's my favorite 10 4. Max, haven't played it much, but it's ok... 5. Extreme, had only a few songs I actually really liked, lack of dance play was very frustrating...
I know, thread's originally between Extreme and Extreme2, but I figured I'd bring the others in too...

extreme two killed extreme. extreme had some good songs like-321 stars, maximizer, the legend of max, and bla bla bla.it wasnt too bad of a songlist but extreme 2 went so much farther. they had originals new songs liscensed songs and nonstop megamixes. also i found that extreme had way harder missions and that extreme 2 was easy to keep on playing and never stopping because of 1 mission.(that excludes section E). plus they were a bit more creative buy making you buy your stuff, finding secret arrows, and getting alternate costumes for your charecters(also getting new noteskins).
and that sakuras little review thing?!?

I can't really pick from the two.
Extreme has: -Jet World (Super fun song to play) -Drop Out (From Nonstop Megamix) -Tsugaru (Apple Mix) -A -.59
But Extreme 2 has: -Sakura -PSM and PSMO -Speed Over Beethoven -Saturday Night Love (It's a great song. I don't care what you all think) -Dance Master Mode
Based on song selection, Extreme has it (IMO).
Gameplay wise, I would say Extreme 2 (although beginning Dance Master was pretty slow because nothing challenged me until level D).

I really didn't care much for Dance Master mode cuz it made me play low levels to unlock new material. It was boring for me pretty much until level E (and some of the special missions were hard too, like getting NG's on all freezes in Saturday Night Love).

I like Extreme better because of the workout mode, wich is more like an option. You can play in game mode, have your score recorded and still know how much colories you burned. It's pretty convenient.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think all the versions have that...?

No. Extreme can count calories in gameplay mode, so you can unlock songs and count calories at the same time, no other games do that, although I did like that a lot better than regular workout mode.

I have extreme and I'm anxiously awaiting for Extreme 2 to come in the mail on Monday from amazon! I'm personally excited for Extreme 2 because it's going to bring me back to way back when with a few of the old songs. Don't get me wrong. I do like some of the new songs on Extreme, but I found myself replaying a few songs rather than all of the songs. I actually liked DDR Max and Max 2 more than Extreme.
