if it does what it says it does...that'll be freaking sweet!!! I'm not so sure. Most songs run about 4:00 long, the average DDR song runs 1:30, ITG runs 2:00. That makes normal songs killer stamina-wise. Plus, typical pop is way too slow for DDR (135 BPM is fast for pop, really slow for DDR). But of course, none of that will be the game's fault. It'll all be in how you select songs for play.

I want to play New Order: Confusion, but that song is like 6 min. long. That would be a real workout.

Although I don't really listen to it anymore, some metal would be a crazy workout.
And finally, finally, I can dance to those techno songs no one else has ever heard of...

This is going to be a trainwreck. The game, or this thread?

This is going to be a trainwreck. Well, if you're thinking about the game in any way that I am, I agree. Who knows if the game simulates steps to beats, lyrics, background noises, or what? Plus, how difficult can you really make the steps? I think I'm probably going to wait for someone else on these boards to buy it before I consider it...

I think it COULD be cool, but the chances of the execution being spot on are slim.

This actually looks really cool to me. Yeah, the song lengths will do terrible things to stamina - but a few snips in Audacity can take care of that.
I may even have a little fun making new tracks for the game. I'd probably even feel like sharing.
And a part of me is thinking of one album which would be fun to try dancing through from beginning to end. Sure, it's an hour long, but I could always set the game to a lower mode.
My biggest worry is the price tag. Expendable funds are better than a year ago, but still not great.

I may even have a little fun making new tracks for the game. I'd probably even feel like sharing. I still say you should cut some of your "free" internet tracks down to 1:20-2:00 and let us have a crack at making stepcharts for them in Stepmania. ;D

I tried to make the stepmania charts for one of them, but failed. Maybe one of these days I can go in and remake some "short" versions of some songs. ;D
I make garbage, though. Not to be self-defeating. That's just the way I like it.

I'm probably going to get this... despite me knowing that it will in all likeliness blow.
All I can say is... to improve stamina? El Futuro... by DJ Venom. Ba-zoinks.

I just went to the Gamestop site to look this one up. They have a price ($40) and a release date (May 16).
You know, it wouldn't be hard.. well, for me.. to trim songs in Audacity for such a project. I obviously wouldn't share any "cuts" I made of someone else's music... meh, I still need to trim some songs down for Stepmania anyway.

I have this game, and to be honest it sucks majorly.
It's really bad at making steps in time to the music, making it lose the flowiness and for me, the fun.
Unless it's music with an obvious, REALLY obvious drum beat, your screwed.
I tried some heavy metal in it, and it didn't pick up the timing at all, losing the appeal that made me buy it.
Not to mention it's really easy and doesn't offer much in terms of difficulty. Even on the hardest mode.

THREAD REVIVAL
But yeah, it was pretty much agreed that it was a flop, which was pretty unsurprising. Auto-generated steps in StepMania are still pretty bad, and SM's been along much longer.
Not to mention I still have yet to find an auto BPM-finder which is right 100% of the time. A lot of music, especially of the classical genre (although pretty much anything non-electronic has it), generally doesn't have one consistent tempo, which throws them off quite a bit.

Dear Spooty:
Get a trial of Sony Acid, then BPM like a fox.
