I'm glad they put the Groove Radar back in. When I'm learning the songs I like it to be able to quickly see what to expect.

I had to pick this game up, mainly because it has one of my favorite songs on it (Speed over Beethoven) and because the new Xbox one doesn't come out for a while.
It sucks cause I can barely play DDR now cause I have 2 roomates who probably don't want me to when they are there. I have to get up early to squeeze in some time.

In Extreme 2, in workout mode, I tried to edit one of the "custom order" sections to make my own workout. I can enter the 5th and later songs, but they are greyed out, and it seems that I can only make a custom order of maximum length 4 (which is not very useful for a workout!) Is this a limitation of the game, or am I doing it wrong, or is it something that needs to be unlocked?
Any tips for the best way to play continuous songs at a specified level for a long period of time, in Extreme 2, would be much appreciated.
Also, could someone explain a bit more about how Dance Master mode works? I am a bit confused. Is there a way to pick specific levels to play that you still need to pass? How do I move from level B to level C? Do I need to keep going back to pass every level? Are the "awards" meaningful in any way in terms of unlocks? Right now I only have Level A and Level B and it is boooooooring to do, but I want to unlock the rest of the songs!!

I can answer a couple of your questions... as Abrannan informed me, if you go to the start/quick menu, select alternate screen. Then you can just right and left and up and down arrow your way arround the board without having to select between 2 songs all the time. Then, look for squares that are yellow or green or red without a star in them. Once you do enough of those, section C will appear. There was a time I SWORE UP AND DOWN I had completed all of B. Then I found one box without a star, completed it, and like 4 more squares appeared.
I am also interested in your workout mode question. I have been unable to custom anything at all. And I don't really know what "Awards" do.. I think all the unlocks have to do with purchasing with the points you earn. I could be wrong though.

Thanks IrishEyes! Switching the screens makes all the difference - it's much less painful when you don't have to start from Level One over and over again!! I started level C today. Do you know what the different colours / different coloured stars mean?

Different colors are for different mission types (course, points, "oni", etc). Different colored stars are for whether you've fully passed the mission or not (some missions have "secret" goals)

From: db.gamefaqs.com/console/ps2/file/ddr_extreme_2.txt"There are four types of missions: 1. Yellow Border - Normal Mission. Has standard set of requirements, for the most part. 2. Red Border - Special Mission. Most of these are necessary to "complete" an area and unlock another. Completing these will earn you the song or course you played in the shop. Also, you'll get a "prize" for completing any of these. 3. Green Border - Course Mission. You'll need to play through a series of songs to pass the mission. 4. Blue Border - Handicap Mission. You're required NOT to step on certain arrows for the course of this mission. Looking at a mission will give you the mission's name (a letter, then a number), and the song/course you'll be playing, and its step difficulty. There's a meter giving you the mission's general difficulty from 1 to 10. Beneath the song's graphic is a green meter showing how much of the song you'll be playing (which is most often the entire song). Also noted on each mission panel is the Dance Meter you'll be using (Normal or Challenge, with the number of lives), then the missions attempts and successes. On the bottom of the panel are two icons. The one on the left (the arrow) is lit up when certain options are activated. The one on the right (the star) is lit up when you have a challenge besides just passing the song. Lastly, the panel (as well as the small square for each mission) has a symbol based on your status on it: An X: You've attempted but haven't passed the mission. Silver Star: You've passed the mission. Red Star: You've fully passed the mission. For most missions, this requires you to pass with a full combo. For missions that prevent you from getting a full combo, just passing it will give you a red star."

In mission mode..I am stuck on beginner..is that the way it is till I have completed X amount of songs..or is there a way to change it to the next level.
Also I see where I can buy an outfit for 100000 points..how does it decide which character I am going to purchase the outfit for...is it based on the characters I dance with?

You stay on beginner through about half of the B section, then the missions start to get into light mode, C starts getting through standard and touch of heavy. D is mostly heavy.
