I've had DDR MAX2 for a while, and though i havent mastered it i can do most standard songs and some heavy songs. Thing is, i'm starting to get sick of the songs. So I want to get a new game. Which one do you think i should spend money on (considering i have very little) and why.

If nothing else, wait until it's released and check out the reviews before committing your funds. I'll be putting up a review as soon as I get my hands on the game (like I did with Extreme).

The only release date I've seen is May 9.

If you can't wait for ITG, i suggest finding a used copy of DDRMAX, as it is a great mix! I think to song selection is the best among the 3 ps2 titles.

I would have to disagree. I think Max 2 has the widest selection of music.. IMO...
...oh yeah, plus I'm a sucker for trance.

max 2 DOES have a great selection of music. unfortunatly, after a year of playing, i can sing the words to EVERY song virtually on command. knowing the songs that intimately is great to stay on beat but, for my sanity i need a new game.

Hi, I just stumbled onto this board from a link in an article about weight loss and ddr that was posted on another forum. You guys are a lot more user friend than over at ddr freak.
Anyway, last June I started with MAX, and gave up because I couldn't get anywhere. But, I bought a new PS2 mid February along with an ingnition pad and Extreme. I'm doing great in Beginner mode, but can't really advance into Light and I'm getting bored with the songs. Is Max 2 worth it in addition to buying In the Groove?
Everyone's two cents is welcome! ;D thanks.

Welcome to the boards. I'd say that yes, Max2 is worth it in addition to In the Groove. ITG's songs are longer, and (with the addition of hands and mines) potentially more difficult. MAX2, on the other hand, is in my opinion, the last great US DDR release. IT's got a better song selection and workout mode than Extreme, and a better beginner mode than MAX. Of course, if it were up to me, everybody'd get all of them.

Thanks Abrannan! Nothing beats dropping another $40 + for more gaming--I keep telling myself it's for a good cause and tax deductible for my weight loss program. ;D I went over to www.redoctange.comand pre-ordered In the Groove, which is scheduled for release on May 9. That's two months earlier than anticipated. If you pre-order you get among other cheapoo crap, like a removable tatoo, a free t-shirt and, more importantly, free shipping! Also, since I don't live in Calif., there's no tax. Every cent helps. In the case of MAX 2, I hope I can find it locally not have to wait for it.

i have to say, max 2 is great, even though i'm getting sick of it. good luck with your progression! ive been playing for slightly over a year now and i'm just starting to play heavy songs! it can be frustrating not to advance levels and pass songs. i like to use workout mode in max 2 for everyday use. you can't fail a song there (it wont stop in the middle even if youre doing really badly) so its a great way to practice songs and get used to step patterns without using training mode. max 2 is worth the $, 4 sure.
