Handplants are not that hard to tall people. I myself am not tall but looking at videos, if JBoy AAA can do Bend Your Mind and While Da Rekkid Spinz on Doubles (two songs with a lot of handplants) and look well after that (he is tall) I think it will be less of a hassle of what you think. Also, its really fun.

Hm, I preordered it.
I have to say I am looking forward to the challenges it contains - but couldn't they include pure stepper 13-footers? I don't dig handplants.

Then turn them off, that's the beauty part. The game is pure stepper anyway, by virtue of the mines. They take away your ability to make your own choices about where to step when, forcing you into the shoehorned idea of their routine for the song. There's no freestyling that way. Optional handplants are freestyling. Mandatory handplants are stepper.

I am soooo ready for this game to come out. If it ships ground 05/10/05 (date ebgames and gamestop gives for shipping) then I am looking to receive it probably Fri 13th (lucky day) or Mon 16th. >:(That seems a long way off! Ready for new songs!!!!! and a t-shirt and keychain- I guess. -M

I tried this at a local arcade, the mines just add a whole new ball game. There are songs that are also extremely harder than any DDR song which is good for anyone who feels like they need a new challenge. I liked the songs more too. Ive already made my pre order ^^

I guess I won't be getting ITG as soon as I thought Ebgames keeps pushing the shipping date forward, and DDr freak made it sound like there is not a firm date. I am so dissapointed. I was really looking forward to getting it next week. What the heck is taking them so long???

From what I've gathered, EBgames (and Gamestop) just made up a date out of thin air, and RedOctane had always planned a later release in May, but couldn't get EBGames, et al to update their release schedules. Hopefully we'll see a release later this month.

Perhaps it also has something to do with the legal assault Konami has unleashed upon Roxor Games. See ddrfreak's main page for more details. They are seeking an "injunction against product distribution," so that could definitely be related.
Edit: On a closer read, this may only affect the arcade releases that are installed in DDR Cabinets, but it could be related!

They are seeking an "injunction against product distribution," so that could definitely be related. I doubt the lawsuit has anything to do with the delay. I have it on good authority that the EBgames date was fabricated, and that RO planned all along to release it later this month. The injunction is just classically timed to screw over Roxor and RO, since they've fully invested all the money they're going to into ITG, but have yet to reap the rewards of their work. Most likely, the preliminary injunction will be granted pending discovery, which will put sales of *all* versions of ITG on hold. Roxor and RO will have to counterfile to get the injunction lifted for the console version, which will take some time. Konami's hope being that that delay will hurt both companies financially enough that Roxor will settle (at RO's urging) rather than fight it out in court. I'm not sure, the sentence in the Konami press release could be read either that the act of refitting the cabinet is illegal (which has been done since arcades were born, refitting a cabinet to put another manufacturers game in there), or that making a game so fundamentally similar to DDR is infringing on Konami's patents. Hard to tell without seeing the text of the filing.

Well, the official filing is up, and it does not really mention the similarity between the games (other than that the similarity further helps to fool the consumer into thinking it is a Konami product rather than a roxor product). Not the funnest read (especially after reading about the fabricated speeches in Bowling for Columbine a few minutes prior...), but they do not seem to be attacking the console version at all.

The way I read it, Konami is making two complaints:
1) The unlicensed use of the patented Konami cabinets for use with In the Groove games. I doubt this part of the claim will go through, but who knows.
2) The fact that on some ITG cabinets, the arcade operators did not cover the konami trademarks with the provided Roxor Trademarks, creating "confusion" in the mind of the consumer. I also doubt this will got through, since Roxor did provide adequate materials and instruction to cover all Konami trademarks on the cabinets.
Just because the suit isn't focused on the console version does not mean the console version won't be affected, especially since Konami is asking for the destruction of all related materials to the game, which could be taken to mean copies of the console version. My experience following these types of cases is that the judge will err on the side of caution, and issue the preliminary injunction preventing the sale of any copies of ITG (arcade or console), until initial arguments are heard. Depending on what the actual release date of ITG turns out to be, and when the judge issues the injunction, there may only be a day or two that ITG is available, if at all. If the injunction goes out after ITG's release, and Konami wins (or wins enough to kill Roxor) ITG could become quite the collector's item.

I might get this game, but not open it and sell it if they aren't allowed to sell anymore. That would fetch a pretty penny

So as far as we know this is still getting released next week? I hate having to drive a half hour to get my ITG fix

From http://www.itgfreak.com:
I'm kind of impatient, because I preordered the bundle that comes with the RedOctane Ignition 3.0 pad. Man, I really want that pad...

Heh, well if I'm gonna have to wait another month, I'd rather have at least the pad...But my old one's still holding up well enough.
