Just thought I'd let everyone know, if they hadn't seen it already, that you can now pre-order In the Groove from RedOctane. The preorder bonuses include an In the Groove t-shirt and a Redoctane keychain. They also have a bundle with the Ingition pad. Looks to be shaping up to be a pretty nice game, and between this and Pump it Up, it's going to be a very active summer!

Sort of, it's essentially a group of DDR enthusiasts who took everything that people wanted changed about DDR, and did it. They've re-added the battle mode (Dance magic mode from Disney Mix). Added "mines" so that now in addition to being told when to step on an arrow (regular arrows) and how long to hold an arrow (Hold arrows) they now tell you when your foot has to come off an arrow. They'vealso added "hands" where you have to hit more than two arrows at once. You can turn off jumps, mines, hands, etc. to help set the difficulty you want. And they've expanded the ratings range up to 13, to help distinguish the really difficult songs. Check out the songlist and stepcharts at www.itgfreak.comTo me, Konami USA hasn't done enough with the DDR franchise, so I'm glad to see someone trying to take it to a newer level.

I think I just died reading about this.
I'm getting it.
Will it be available at anywhere like Best Buy?

According to what I've read, EBgames, Gamestop, and Toys'R'Us will all be carrying it on release.

Now, I haven't listened to the whole ITG soundtrack, but from what I have heard, it's a little more club/trance/euro than DDR's dance/pop. The songs tend to be about :30 longer than DDR (2:00 average as opposed to 1:30) and seemed a little higher tempo as well. All favorable comparisons, IMO.
The mines don't seem to be too much to worry about (based on the stepcharts that were available at itgfreak.com, but the generator seems to be on the fritz at the moment), but the nice thing is that you'll be able to turn off mines, hands, and even jumps if you don't want them in the songs.

Hands on a CF would be almost impossible, it's so hard to trigger the buttons sometimes anyway.

It wouldn't be THAT hard, you'd just have to punch the arrow and bruise your knuckles xD

Wow! I'm so excited for some new songs. ITG sounds like fun. I really like the club/trance songs much better, so this sounds like the game for me. I can't wait!!!

Hands on a CF would be almost impossible, it's so hard to trigger the buttons sometimes anyway. It's easy on a machine, so why would it be harder on a touch sensitive bad as opposed to a pressure sensitive? Fluxes will generally register hits alot easier than an arcade machine due to how the sensors work.

Fluxes will generally register hits alot easier than an arcade machine due to how the sensors work. It depends if you have just bent the metal sheet upwards. It is sometimes difficult to press the sensor down all the way, and thats with the foot. Although, having to slam your hand down on the flux to get it to register also proves that you are hitting it hard enough, so if you were to play on the arcade pad you wouldn't have to worry about it not registering. And I am talking about CFlux vs Arcade platforms, not about the game. I think it might be a cool game, might have to check it out.

I've been at Reflection Theory's website, and I love the music. If the rest of the music is all as good, this is really going to be enjoyable.
Just looking through some stepcharts on itgfreak, I can see how these additions can make songs very hard very fast. The "Bend Your Mind" Expert chart has some crazy handplants while holding other steps with your feet...this is going to add dimensions of difficulty, isn't it?
Does anybody know a more accurate day of release than May 2005? It isn't anywhere on the websites of redoctane, itg, or itgfreak.

The only problem I have with this game is that I am tall. And sometimes bending over fast and trying to do things tends to be difficult at times. That might make the hand plants a little difficult also. It's not a matter of weight, its the fact that I am 6'3'' and have go a longer distance that some who are shorter than me in the same time, which can strain back muscles. It looks like a really cool game, but I don't think I can handle the hand plants yet. But I probably will still get it and not play with those settings.

Yeah, and some of peoples' lower spinal cords (I wonder who) are permanently damaged from football, so strenuous bending down like that would probably kill them. Er...
