A friend of mine has playstation 2, and would like to try DDR. Which game is the easiest for beginners? Do they all have beginner levels or just some? Any help would be great!
I only have xbox and have no idea how to instruct him to buy!
Thanks!

I've never personally played DDRMax, but I hear it lacks the tutorials and a lot of helpful elements for new players.
I started on DDRMax2, and it had a fairly decent tutorial mode. Extreme also has one, but I've yet to try it. Maybe I should, just to compare it to the tutorials in Max2, but that's another story.
Max2 or Extreme will both have some form of new player help built in, however.

Max 2. Max has no Beginner mode, Extreme has Training mode but you can't slow down songs. Max 2 has the best variety for skilled players/not so skilled players. It's my fav. DDR game thus far.

I was about to post a new thread on a similar discussion when I came across this thread. I have MAX, it is what I started out on. There are three "lessons" and then you jump directly into Light mode. I made it work for me by taking the easiest (1, 2, 3 foot) songs into the Training mode and slowing down the tempo. I have been using this technique all along and am up to 6 and 7 foot songs after a month and a half. So learning on MAX is doable. I am just about to the point that I want to get a new game for some song variance, though. (I HAVE unlocked all but 2 of the songs in MAX). So I have been trying to decide between MAX 2 and Extreme. You would think Extreme would be the best because it is the newest, but I am sensing a different opinion from the masses. I would love to hear more on what people out there are thinking about MAX2 and Extreme for Beginners and Intermediates. Ultimately, I will end up with all three games, but I just want to know what I should invest in next!

As a major newbie I have to say that I like the DDR extreme MUCH more than the DDR konamix. The latter is much to fast for me but I will definitely try it again when I'm a little better

I have Extreme and Max2. I prefer Extreme, which is the version I started on.

I have Max, Max2 and Extreme. Max2 to me is by far the best. However I think Extreme has a wider variety of song genres.
In my opinion the best one to start on is max2.
