Hello, I rented a ps 2 to try out ddr and the store had ddr max 2. I did it and really liked the learning mode with the overhead view of a dancer showing you how to do the different combinations. The store was out of ps2's and so I bought an xbox with ultramix 2. But I was disappointed when I got ddr ultramix 2 bundle at the store because I couldn't find a learning mode that taught combinations, so brought the xbox back in and bought a ps2 when they got one in. However, the store only sells the DDR extreme for the ps2 with a mat. Does DDR extreme have a good learning mode that shows you the way to do the moves? Ultramix said it did, but just showed a character hitting squares always from the middle. DDR max 2 showed you how to stand on differents squares to start doing combinations. Without any experience, I found ultramix frustrating as I couldn't figure it out past beginner mode. So before I open ddr extreme and am stuck with it, does it have a GOOD beginner mode that actually shows you how to do this? Thanks

The beginner mode on Extreme is actually quite good in my opinion. There is the beginner mode itself, which shows a person actually doing the moves on the mat with you, and there is also a tutorial which shows how other moves can be done. It certainly helped me a lot. I've only had it a week, but I'm doing solid A's and B's on standard mode now.

The tutorials are neat but honestly trying to memorize how to play DDR will not help on anything above beginner mode.
When you play ddr the step progressions come naturally to you the more you play. You do not think what arrow to hit, your mind judges based on the flow and pattern. It sounds weird, but any experianced player can tell you thats how it works.
Do not worry about tutorial mode. The more you play, even on beginner and light, the more you naturally begin to hit the notes and progress more fluidly. If this wasnt the case, no one would be able to do those 200bpm songs on Heavy would they?
The secret on DDR is to keep playing day after day until it all becomes natural.

Thanks for the info. I have never seen anyone play before, so I found the learning mode on ddrmax 2 helpful because I thought everything was supposed to start from the middle. Now that I am beginning to understand some of the moves I am starting to feel more comfortable exploring with it.
Thanks.
