Yeah, they're an added bonus, but I'd give that up to take away the programming errors in the game. No dance mat mode, incorrect messages regarding song unlocks, etc. It just feels like they ignored QA testing of the product to add these "extras". What's dance mat mode? As for the programming errors, I must not have gotten that far yet. They shouldn't be in the game......someone must have got a little lazy. Why didn't you guys wait for a review in a gaming mag or ask others that have already purchased and played a substantial amount of time before buying it. I preordered it a few days before it arrived in stores after I read a review on a trusted gaming web site. I knew exactly what I was in for before I bought it. I guess Konami could have charged $10 more and took the time and de-bug the errors about "song unlocks". I haven't seen the errors yet, if they are errors where it just says the wrong thing under information.....big deal, if it's an error where is says you've unlocked a song but you never see the song and it's not playable.....then that sucks. Hands and Feet is the coolest mini-game I’ve ever played on a video game. It is hard but that’s cool. I personally am tired of the mini games that are too easy and become boring after 1 time playing them. I’ve played H&F every time I’ve played Extreme (I still suck at it). People say Eye toy doesn’t pick your hands out that good. Those people need to turn on more lights, or even set lights up like it tells you to in the instructions.

I would rather have a playable game then a message that you read one time.

The dance mat mode is where the buttons (the corners on most non-konami pads) are disabled during the songs so that you don't get false steps. It's been in every DDR game (foreign and domestic) until US extreme, and without it, or without a custom made pad, it's very difficult to pass Oni and Heavy songs. This does make the game a bit more unplayable than other mixes. It's a HUGE oversight not to include it.

Some day......when I finally get to heavy mode I'll understand where you're coming from about the dance mat mode. It's no issue for me right now on light. I agree though that dance mat mode should be included in Extreme, but you're still using party mode to take out your frustration on Konami for not adding dance mat mode.

Also (while it may be causing that one message bug) a song called Memories is completely in the game with music, stepcharts, and the like, but it seems to be impossible to unlock. Of course, that does not mean that it won't, but it seems to be an oversight at the moment. There was no reason for them to completely put an entire song on the game, then lock it right before release (especially a song that they own).
I knew exactly what it would be like before I got it, and I still love the game. I just would have loved it more without the quirks.

Actually, the funcitonality itself is still in the engine, but there's no interface for turning it on/off. The funny thing, though, is that you can still turn it on/off by manually editing the Extreme system save file. I've done it with mine and have officially said 'bye bye' to the corners.

I think I remember reading something about this on www.ddrFreak.com. I think they even have save files for download if you own a dexdrive.

Yep, there's a whole thread devoted to it. They have blank saves posted, but if you already have everything unlocked and Missions completed, you would be resetting all that data by using their saves. If you feel up to editing your own, I posted step by step instructions in that thread of how to do it using a Datel MAX Drive.
